Diocesan Training Program Empowers High School Catechism Teachers

  •   11/Jul/2026

In a major effort to strengthen faith formation across the diocese, a comprehensive training program for catechism teachers handling standards 8 through 12 was successfully conducted today, July 11, at the Bodhana Pastoral Centre. The intensive, day-long orientation ran from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, drawing enthusiastic participation from catechists representing all parishes across the diocese.
The prestigious event was officially inaugurated by our beloved Bishop, Mar Joseph Arumachadath MCBS, who invoked blessings upon the gathering and reminded the educators of their sacred calling to guide the youth in truth and faith. Sharing the dais was the Vicar General, Rev. Fr. Joseph Thottamkara MCBS, whose presence lent significant administrative and pastoral weight to the day's proceedings.
Following the inaugural ceremony, a specialized delegation from the Diocese of Belthangady took leadership of the core training blocks. The modules were spearheaded by Rev. Fr. Joseph Cheeran and Mr. Varghese Kazhuthadiyil, both of whom delivered impactful animations focusing on creative teaching methodologies, faith integration, and effective strategies for navigating the unique psychological landscapes of modern teenagers. The event was closely coordinated under the direct supervision of Rev. Fr. Tino Vellaramkalayil, Chancellor of the Diocese and Director of the Catechism Department. In his address to the delegates, Fr. Vellaramkalayil emphasized the critical role high school catechists play in anchoring young minds during their most formative years. He expressed deep appreciation for the teachers' volunteer spirit and reiterated the department’s commitment to providing continuous resource support.
The training concluded at 4:00 PM with an interactive open forum, followed by a prayer of commissioning as the teachers prepared to return to their respective parishes.
