On July 25, 2026, the Diocese of Bhadravathi conducted a one-day training seminar at the Bodhana Pastoral Centre for newly elected Kaikkarans (parish trustees) and Parish Secretaries. Presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Arumachadath, Bishop of Bhadravathi, the event was organized to strengthen parish administration and deepen the participants' understanding of their canonical duties within the Syro-Malabar tradition. The day began with an opening prayer led by Rev. Fr. Varghese Mulackal, MCBS, followed by a welcome address from Rev. Fr. Antony Odackal and introductory remarks by Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Thottankara, MCBS, who set the tone for the day's discussions.

In his inaugural address, Bishop Joseph Arumachadath emphasized the crucial role of collaborative leadership, honesty, and transparency in parish governance. He urged the newly elected leaders to work together harmoniously and approach their administrative responsibilities with a spirit of dedication and service to the community.

The training consisted of two comprehensive educational sessions led by domain experts. The first class, conducted by Rev. Fr. Tomy Palakudiyil, focused on the role of Kaikkarans according to Canon Law and church tradition, elaborating on their dual spiritual and administrative obligations. The second session, presented by Mr. Sam Mathew, covered temporal administration and accounting, highlighting best practices for financial stewardship, record-keeping, and operational accountability in managing church resources.

Following the classes, an open discussion was held, providing participants with an interactive platform to share experiences, ask questions, and address real-world administrative challenges. The seminar wrapped up with a group lunch at 1:00 p.m., offering a valuable opportunity for fellowship among clergy and lay leaders. This initiative reflects the Diocese’s ongoing commitment to nurturing well-informed, responsible leaders who can balance faith and administration effectively.
